Understanding Catholic Cremation
In the history of the Church, cremation is a relatively new tradition. While the Church recommends the body of the deceased be buried or interred, cremation is an option that is permitted. When it is chosen, the Church encourages that the body be present for the Vigil and Funeral Liturgy with the cremation following. This is not always the preference of the family or just may not be feasible. The cremated remains are to be treated with respect and reverence and should be kept in an appropriate urn or container that is placed a mausoleum, columbarium or proper grave. Let us help you plan your funeral service taking the confusion out of the planning process.
